Another Look at Love
I've seen so many examples of love lately. Have you? It's all around us every day.
Every warm smile from a stranger, every time a dog wags its tail, each wink and gentle handshake are outward signs of love. Pleasant thoughts inside your head, waves of emotion and moments of peacefulness inside our hearts are inward signs of love. Love is granted by God and is all around you. If you don't see it, you're not looking.
So what have you done to love your neighbor? I waved at the neighbor kids playing in the snow and their parents stopped to get my mail after a walk in the fresh-falling snow, brought it up my driveway to catch me coming in from work- just for a quick "hello". That's love.
For the past month people from all over the world have opened their hearts, their wallets, their homes and their voices to remember the Haitians after the devastating earthquake. That's love.
Do you know anyone that's adopted a child, raised a child, educated a child, healed a child, fed a child or prayed for a child? That's love.
Have you ever studied history, thought deeply about the ancestors who paved the way for our success, our freedom and our global connectedness? The work they did for us, whether they knew it or not, is love.
You are who you are by the grace of God. You have been chosen to live in your body, in this era, with your specific and unique talents and strengths because you matter. You matter to someone somewhere, but you matter to everyone everywhere. Your actions affect others. Your thoughts influence your actions. Your feelings influence your thoughts.
Feel love. > Then love will influence your thoughts. > Then you'll act with love.
Feel love. The result is peace.
World peace? Possible through love.
