arks the beginning of the season of Advent- a time of preparation, gratitude and grace. This is a wonderful time to look inward and reflect upon how prepared we are for the future and the great things that are to come.As I light the first candle today, I revisit the gifts that God, my family and my friends have given me to prepare myself for the blessings that are to come. I think my greatest strength is curiosity. I have an active mind and an inquisitive soul. How can I use this gift to help others in this world? I hope that I can be the brave one who asks questions when no one else does. I hope I can find answers and ignite conversation and put thoughts deep into the minds of those around me so that they too might be fueled by curiosity.
Let this time of preparation also be filled with motivation and action. This is a great time to reach out to old friends and lost connections. This is a great time to meet new people and get to know acquaintances a little better. The stronger our bonds and relationships are, the stronger our community is. Good Global Citizens will enrich this world when we have mass of numbers, because then each small, kind action will have ripple effects; and our preparation for the future will be easier.
